Pastor “Bob” Reed has been Pastor of Joliet Baptist Church since 2001.  He and his wife, Michelle have two grown daughters, Katie (Jeremiah) & Megan. They also have two granddaughters, Arabella & Aliyah, who Bob loves to spoil.

Pastor Bob took a “non-traditional” route to becoming a pastor. He grew up in Norwich, CT in a Jewish family.  After high school, he served in the United States Air Force in Alaska. This is where Bob accepted Jesus as his personal Savior. Within a month of being saved Bob was preaching in Mt. McKinley National Park and filling in as a substitute pastor. In 1980, Bob was licensed to preach.  After serving two years in Alaska, Bob was transferred to Great Falls, MT which is where he met his lovely wife, Michelle.

After marriage Bob began a career in law enforcement. He worked as a Deputy Sheriff for 10 years in Havre, MT. In 1999, he was hired as Under Sheriff for Carbon County. He and his family began attending Joliet Baptist Church and started the church’s current AWANA program. In 2001, JBC church members voted to call Bob as their new pastor. Since that time, Bob has worked to complete an extensive study program including a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies and a master’s degree in Ministry. He was ordained as a pastor in 2013.

In addition to his pastoral duties, Bob continues to play an active role in law enforcement as a part-time deputy for Carbon County. Bob has coached Speech & Drama at local high schools for the past 12 years. He teaches classes in the home school co-op and is a substitute school bus driver. Bob also serves on the boards of several community organizations. When he isn’t fulfilling his duties at JBC or serving his community, Bob enjoys reading books, listening to music on his phonographs, watching his beloved “Packers”, as well as traveling and spending time with his family.
