What to expect Sunday morning
The congregation of Joliet Baptist Church includes people of all ages and various walks of life – from truck drivers to ranchers and stay at home moms to businesswomen. Typical Sunday attendance is between 40 and 50 people. Dress styles are casual and vary from suits to jeans and cowboy boots for men and from dresses or skirts to jeans or slacks for women. At JBC, we are not as concerned with how you look, as we are with our own desire to prepare our hearts to worship the Lord.
JBC music combines both traditional hymns and contemporary choruses that exalt our great God and remind us of His character and actions.
All preaching at JBC is rooted in the Word of God. Generally, our sermon series find us in one book of the Bible at a time. Preaching is gospel-driven and highlights God’s plan of salvation through the finished work of Christ Jesus on the cross throughout both the Old and New Testaments. Preaching at JBC is expository, meaning that it seeks to unpack the meaning of a particular Bible passage. Sermons usually last around 30 minutes and encourage self-reflection.
Communion is held on the first Sunday of each month and includes time for personal prayer and reflection. At JBC we practice “open” communion. The only requirement for you to participate is that Jesus Christ is your personal Lord and Savior
Please join us for fellowship following service. This is a great opportunity to get to know our pastor, leadership and congregation while enjoying a light snack and connecting through conversation.
The congregation of JBC is made up of a group of broken and imperfect people with every kind of life story. We are committed to worshiping the Lord with gladness, learning more about the truth found in His word and loving others as Christ loves them. We pray that you will visit JBC in person and that the experience will be a blessing.
